The group spent the morning until mid-afternoon touring the fabulous chateau Vaux Le Vicomte, about an hour’s drive from Joigny, close to Paris. Versailles was modeled after this chateau. The gardens were spectacular. The chateau was built in the mid-1600’s by Nicholas Fouquet, the finance minister for Louis XIV.
In the afternoon, they went a few minutes down the road to Le Domaine des Macarons de Réau. The chef demonstrated the making of macarons. Everyone was treated to samples, and left with a little gift bag.
