After an early morning train ride, the group arrived in Paris, and then went to the Musée d’Orsay.  After a picnic in the Tuileries gardens across the Seine near the Louvre, the Eiffel tower was the next stop.   The climb to Montmartre was worth it for the great view of the city.

A memorable moment occurred when we arrived at the train station an hour early. All of a sudden we all stood still as we started listening to beautiful music coming from a piano at the station. It was Valentine, Kirsten’s host. All of the French and Americans stood together quietly listening. When she finished the applause filled the space. For the next hour Kirsten played with encouragement from Katrina then Valentine played, then Bevin and Kirsten played a duet, then Fletcher sang, then Sarah played and then Valentine played and then a French man played that we didn’t know. There was much applause from all and connections and warmth that will endure on many levels.  Some videos of this can be seen on the Jumelage Joigny-Hanover website.
